Two Day Training Workshop on OSH organized by LEF in
Lahore
26-27-August-2017
Labour Education Foundation organized a two
days national training workshop with trade
union leaders on Occupational Safety and
Health (OSH) on 26-27th August 2017. Union
representatives from formal and informal
sectors including 17 males and 10 females
participated in this workshop.
This training workshop was held to enhance
the knowledge of trade union leaders and
activists about workplace related physical,
chemical, ergonomic, biological and other
hazards as well to enhance
the understanding of the union leaders about
the importance of OSH and to guide the trade
union leaders and workers to demand for
their safe workplace.
Trade union leaders from garments, home
based workers from stitching and fancy
embroidery, mines, marble industry,
stone crushing and power loom sectors
participated in the workshop.
LEF is working on OSH issues with trade
unions to improve understanding and
build capacity so that workers can
demand safe working conditions at the
work places. In Pakistan, the employers
and state institutions are least
bothered about the safe working
conditions despite the fact that
Pakistan has faced worst disasters at
workplaces killing hundreds of workers
in last few years.
