LEF organizes capacity-building workshop for
brick kiln workers

Foundation organized a two-day workshop for
capacity building of brick-kiln workers at
Pak Heritage Hotel in Lahore on November 9
and 10, 2022. At least 19 kiln workers from
Lahore and six from Toba Tek Singh attended
the workshop.
Farooq Tariq discussed Reasons behind Social
and Economic Poverty of kiln workers and a
strategy to overcome the problem. He also
threw light on Importance of Trade Unionism
particularly for informal segments of
society like brick-kiln workers.
Tajammal Aziz informed the participants
about the laws related to brick-kiln workers
in Pakistan. He also discussed social
protection available to kiln workers under
incumbent laws and schemes.
Ms Jalvat Ali shed light on the Need for
Gender Equality and how it could bring more
social and economic benefits to the women
working at brick kilns.
Zaigham Abbas highlighted the issue of
Environmental Pollution at brick kilns and
its social and economic impact on the people
working there. He also suggested remedies to
reduce the pollution and protecting oneself
from the ill effects of the menace.
